PROGRAM OVERVIEW

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Mo Williams Academy (MWA) was established as a premiere destination and resource for elite student-athletes to enhance their athletic skill development. It is home to the some of the nation’s most talented basketball student-athletes. Moreover, it is our goal to prepare student-athletes to successfully transition from high school to college; while arming them with the tools to be leaders in life as well as champions on and off the court. At MWA our student-athletes are exposed to and provided with exemplary skills training in an environment conducive to learning.
At the helm of MWA is Maurice “Mo” Williams, member of the National Basketball Association’s Cleveland Cavaliers. Mo and the MWA staff are committed to the total development of all student-athletes throughout their matriculation in our programs. It is our goal that the experience of each student-athlete will be framed within a context that instills self-discipline, dedication, drive for success, pride in performance, respect for others, and a lifelong love of the sport.

DEVELOPMENT

DEVELOPMENT

The initial phase of the Intermediate Training Program (middle school participants) begins with assessing all participants individual needs through daily skill work and training sessions. On court training focuses on improvement of areas of weakness and the enhancement of stronger parts of a participants’ game. Individual improvement plans are specifically designed for each player, while fundamental, foundational skill development is a continued focus in small group settings. All participants are to participate in basketball specific exercises to improve strength, core stability, functional flexibility, speed, quickness and linear and lateral movement. All participants are put on a path to being quicker, faster, stronger and more explosive and controlled basketball players

RECRUITMENT & COLLEGE PLACEMENT

RECRUITMENT & COLLEGE PLACEMENT

During all open recruitment periods, for the Elite Programs, we have college coaches and scouts attend our workouts, thereby increasing players’ opportunities for exposure and laying the groundwork for recruitment. All junior and senior participants are assisted with their college opportunities and decisions. A pre-college training plan is developed for each player to maximize preparation for the college level or for transition into the post graduate program. For underclassmen, individual skill training continues as we focus on summer preparation. Our staff at the Mo Williams Academy works with each participant to plan a summer schedule regarding individual training, summer camps, tournaments and leagues to provide the maximum opportunities for improvement, development and exposure in the summer months.
