Avery Johnson has reeled in a huge recruit in his first offsesaon as head coach at Alabama. Terrance Ferguson, a five-star shooting guard out of Dallas, committed to Johnson and the Crimson Tide on Monday, according to ESPN’s Jeff Borzello.
Ferguson was one of four high school players to make the gold medal winning USA Basketball U19 team this summer, joining the consensus top three recruits in the class of 2016 — Harry Giles, Duke commit Jayson Tatum and Josh Jackson — on the squad. Ferguson averaged 6.1 points in seven games during the tournament.
Ferguson is considered one of the most athletic guards in the class of 2016 while also projecting to be one of the best three-point shooters. He has great size for a shooting guard at 6’7, 183 pounds and can jump out of the gym.
